Project Ekal Vidyalaya

Ekal Vidyalayas – One Teacher One School under the aegis of Ekal Vidyalaya Abhiyaan, a low cost model school system for rural and tribal areas which provides non-formal education to children in the age group of 6 to 14 years.

We select a young 10th pass Boy or Girl from the same village with the consent of the Village Panchayat & appoint them as teacher. They are trained regularly in six to eight training camps in a year & starts a three hour non formal school, daily, in open or a place organized by the Village Panchayat as per time convenient to villagers.

Aim is to educate them to improve their living & make the village a viable place to earn their livelihood rather than migrating to cities & work as skilled or unskilled workforce through ekal education.

Stationary kit consisting Teacher Guidebook, Charts, Black boards, Note book, Attendance register etc is provided by Ekal local office. Children share their poems, rhymes & lessons with parents & the change in behavior of the children is being observed by villagers. Children get education at Ekal vidyalayas for four to five years & become capable to join formal schools at 3rd to 5th class.
